  • Burns supper 2016 (19 photos)

On Saturday 23rd January, 54 church members and guests enjoyed a wonderful Burns Supper in the in the Church hall
Jamie Baxter piped in the haggis which was addressed by Ian Campbell. Following an excellent meal, prepared by Rhona Mackenzie and Clare Bowness, the evening continued with a few Burns’ tunes from John Summers on piano and Bob Miller on fiddle. Ruth Morrison then regaled the audience with a fine rendition of “Duncan Gray”.
The Immortal Memory or, in this case the “Immoral” memory was proposed by Ian Davidson, considering Burns’ love life and the loves of his life. The night included light-hearted gender digs in the Toast to the Lassies proposed by Bruce Robertson and the response from Margaret Davidson.
No Burns Supper is complete without at least one of the epic poems and Jim Morrison’s rendition of “Holy Willie’s Prayer” will be remembered for many a year, not least for his cavorting around the room to the “Stripper” tune.
The evening ended with everyone joining together to sing a few of the Bard's great songs, led by and with the traditional singing of Auld Lang Syne.

    Who needs a rehearsal!?
Our 'no rehearsal' nativity play was a great success. Everyone took part - children, adults, congregation and our two baby Jesus's!
    Amazing! Wow!

  • Picnic 2015 (8 photos)

On Sunday June 14th 2015, we headed for Ormsary beach for our annual picnic. When we left Lochgilphead it was raining and there were dark clouds in the sky. But, as we headed over the hill, the skies cleared, the sun shone and we then enjoyed a great afternoon of fun, games and.of course, sand in the sandwiches!

  • Coffee morning October 2014 (9 photos)

We did say that it was going to be a Coffee Morning with a difference...and it certainly was! Yesterday morning the church hall was filled to overflowing and rang with the chatter around the tables and the laughter of the children - and some adults - in the apple dooking competition. The winner was Kirsty Mochrie, who successfully retrieved 3 apples in the time of 13.46 seconds! The apple peeling competition winner, and now officially the champion peeler in Lochgilphead, was Susan Cameron with a peel of 166cms. A total of £615.50 was raised on the day. Thanks to everyone who helped to organise the catering and the competitions and, of course to everyone who supported the event.

    I will get this apple!
